Home Sweet Home?????

Our first night in Shanghai proved to be fulfilling. Plans were already made for our next day. We prepare accordingly and convince ourselves that a good night's sleep would do us a world of good.

Our apartment is cozy. We try the TV out for size and realize that what we read about in the states was true...no English channels. Oh well. We are ready to stretch our legs anyhow. It's been a very, very, very long two days...when you factor in the time change. 14 hours to be exact.

Our bed was calling our names...and we answered. Well alrighty then. What in the hell is this THING that looks like a bed...is made up like a bed...but is NOT a bed? Oh my! There's no mattress!! What? How are we supposed to get a good night's sleep on this hard ass thing? It's the box spring and the thinnest padding in life! How do they expect us to relax our minds when our backs are in pain? Oh no...they have GOT to be kidding!! Okay. Dwayne and I agree...when in China...do as Chinese!

Dwayne finds his spot much quicker than I do. The snores were getting louder. I decide to explore our new abode. Our kitchen is really cute! Everything is so small though. Humm. Surprised? NOT. The kitchen sink is definitely made for one who stands under five feet. And why are there only two burners on the stove? Where is the oven? The frig and freezer are what you would call the 'compact model'. Lots of cabinet space. I can make it work. No problem. The other two bedrooms are just as cute. Little beds, night stands and desks. Odd closets and book shelves. The curtains are great! Oh...that little square box in the hallway between the kitchen and bathroom is the washing machine. Where's the dryer? And the shower? At least four people could get in there at one time. Wow! I'm really dragging now...why not try it out? That should surely be the answer to achieving my much needed rest. Okay...the water's not so hot. I need hot water folks. I'm trying to relax my body and mind. Hello! Okay...the water pressure is not cooperating. Hello! Anybody. Damn. I can't fight it any longer. I have got to lay it down. It is...what it is...

...home...sweet home.
